Venice: A city of canals, pigeons and gelato.

Well, our trip started off with a night spent attempting to sleep on the airport benches.  Our flight left at 6:00 am and this was our best option.  We were up by 4:30am, and on our way!

Our first stop was Venice, Italy.  We stayed in a great guesthouse, it was called Sweet Dreams =)  The people were great, and we met some awesome friends.

Our first day was a whirlwind of walking around in the skinny canals, lugging our suitcases behind us.  It was a bit rainy in the afternoon, but in the evening it was beautiful.  The whole city comes to life, every gelato stand advertising its famous flavor, live music from each corner and people bustling from store to store keep this small city full of life.
Our first lunch.
 So many canals...
St. Frari Church.
I loved the musicians, they were just great.
Street of Passion.
Mum and I on the Rialto Bridge.
Haley (a girl we met at our hostel) and I on the Gondola docks.
 Doges Palace at night.

On Friday, our second day, we had beautiful weather.  The morning was full of sightseeing, beginning with San Marco's square, St. Mark's Basilica, the Correr Museum and the Doges Palace.   Everything was incredible, I loved it!
Oranges in the morning.
San Marco's Square.
Doges Palace.

In the afternoon we took a boat over to a Murano, a small island famous for its glass.  It was so nice to get away from the crowds of tourists and have some peace and quiet... and more gelato =)
On our way to Murano...
Murano.
mmmmm gelato.
Beautiful Murano.
